Peter Oakden

Since buying his first record aged 14 in the mid 90’s, Peter Oakden can already look back at an illustrious career, with him being one of the brightest young names on the UK’s underground house scene. Peter’s past few years have included a residency at the prestigious Ministry of Sound Rea Sea back in 2006 and working for Hed Kandi’s deep and soulful sister label Stereo Sushi in 2007. There he helped out with marketing and promotions on album releases and events for the midlands and north, as well as resident DJing duties.

In 2008 Peter teamed up with lifelong friend Jay Grooves to form Soul Free Productions where they went on to release various records and remixes together, which were strongly charted and supported by the likes of house music legend Tony Humphries. So again, building up from this quick success, Peter launched Soul Free Records, which immediately gained elusive support from Phil Asher, Osunlade, Ralf Gum, Anthony Nicholson & Groove Assassin amongst others. This entire happening within the labels first 8 months of launching… Soul Free Records is now growing into one of the UK’s most sought after independent record labels dedicated to releasing QUALITY MUSIC with SOUL.

In the recent months Peter he has played at many events and countries around the globe – USA, Slovenia, Spain, Greece, Lithuania, Portugal and Africa to name but a few, and of course not forgetting his regular weekly bookings on his home soil in the UK.

In between Peter’s continuous record label work and gigs he is also busy working on brand new exciting projects for Restless Soul and Black Sauce, whom he forms with counter parts Julian Bendall (Bah Samba) & Ricky Reid (Soul Renegades).
